Dedicated to helping the Peruvian poor – that’s ‘Bishop Bill’ of Chesterfield

A 65-year-old Chesterfield man has spent the last quarter of a century working tirelessly to improve the lives of some of South America’s poorest people.  Nick Roberts details the remarkable life and work of his friend  ‘Bishop Bill’.

HAROLD WILLIAM ‘BILL’ GODFREY  was born in April 1948 in Chesterfield. The family  lived in Yew Tree Drive during his early years but moved to Highfield Road when Bill was a toddler.  Bill went to Highfields Junior School and then on to Chesterfield Grammar School.
