‘Lilac Lovelies’ cross the county!

ONE Sunday last month, you might have noticed a strange sight on the county’s roads.  After all, it’s not every day that nine LILAC cars progress in convoy across Derbyshire… but thanks to the dedication of a Youlgrave man, it proved to be a day to remember.

Phil Smith organised the latest Minor Million Register Rally – a 65-mile drive around the county that ended in style at Crich Tramway Village. Phil, of course, owns one of these very special lilac cars… built, more than 50 years ago,  to commemorate the fact that the Morris Minor was the first British car to sell one million units…
