Student Amelia Hardwick talks to the Matlock teacher about to cycle 840 miles – on a penny farthing!

RICHARD Thoday is a 55-year old teacher from Matlock who aims to break the Guinness World Record for the time taken to get from Lands End to John O’Groats on a penny farthing and raise funds for ‘Children in Need’ in the process. Richard’s first race on this unusual bicycle was in 2010 in Knutsford, Cheshire.
