It is the 40th anniversary of ‘enterprising’ Bakewell Choral, as Peter Knowles reports.
IT WAS IN 1978 that Richard Barnes, a music teacher at Lady Manners School, Bakewell had an article in the Derbyshire Times – headlined ‘Like to Sing?’ – which read: Rehearsals of the newly-formed Bakewell Choral Society, conductor Richard Barnes, commence on Monday September 11th.
