Three dramatic edges – and four ‘companions’!

Judith Parker Dixon creates a superb, circular walk taking in the best of our gritstone edges and some distinctive ‘moorland art’.

THIS route showcases the dramatic views and bleak moorland so distinctive of the Derbyshire landscape. The walk leads firstly across Froggatt Edge, then Curbar Edge and White Edge, to pass through the Longshaw Estate and return to the car park. The route follows established paths – steep and rugged in places, with some wet/marshy areas. It also takes in three of the 12 Companion Stones – distinctive sculptures with poetry on them – that featured in Reflections earlier this year, with a fourth close by…
