Writing for wellbeing? Yes, it worked for me!

Derbyshire author and Reflections writer Leonie Martin is using creative writing and shared reading to help reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing in Chesterfield. Sarah Bannister visits one of Leonie’s monthly workshops and discovers the background to this latest chapter in Leonie’s career.

CHESTERFIELD Library on a Saturday morning is an unusual venue for me. To be honest, I’m feeling rather nervous: a bit like I did during English classes in secondary school. I didn’t make the most out of my school days and never reached my full potential – I was too easily distracted and lacked confidence. Even just talking or reading out in front of other people made me really anxious. But here I am, on my way to one of Leonie Martin’s Writing for Wellbeing workshops…
