Vivienne tells the story of two remarkable waterways paintings; both discovered in empty houses in this region.

THE VERY FINE painting we have pictured here of the Palazzo Labia on the Cannaregio canal in Venice – and discovered recently in a house near Renishaw –  is by Ruben Santoro (1859-1942). He was a prolific artist and had a particular talent for painting the tranquil waterways of Venice. His pictures show great attention to detail, a quality that is very popular in today’s art market…
