Helping wildlife this winter…

Winter Wildlife

Student Izzy Bunting reports on how we can all help wildlife through the worst of winter.

SINCE the 1950s, we’ve lost almost two million acres of Britain’s countryside to urbanisation and intensified agriculture. In other words, only half of the woodland that our grandparents enjoyed still remains; only five per cent of our wildflower meadows still bloom every summer; and almost all of our country ponds have been swallowed up by concrete. Because of this, our gardens are more important than ever – especially in winter.
