ROBERT Evans may be an architect – in fact his own practice celebrated its 25th anniversary just before the nation went into lockdown – but painting portraits and landscapes is now close to becoming a second business. In fact, the director of Matlock-based Evans Vettori Architects Ltd is, since the return from lockdown, working only four days a week so that he can spend every Friday – and much of the weekend – on his new love, painting with oils.And it is a relatively new love, as he only tried painting after the death of his father Bernard, a lifelong painter who lived in Penzance, Cornwall, six years ago. “Both my parents were artists, and my passion as a boy was drawing,” Robert said. “The drawing developed my interest in architecture and, of course, I have been drawing buildings throughout my career!…
