The warmly-illuminated frontage of a traditional stone-built country inn – The Horse & Jockey at Wessington – could not have been a more welcome sight as we approached on a dark, damp and murky February evening.
However, as the old saying goes, first appearances don’t always tell the full story. Warm and welcoming it certainly was but, set behind the retained front wall of the original building is a brand new gastro pub with a subterranean dining room, a ground-floor restaurant, bar area and fourteen bedrooms…
