SECOND WORLD WAR ART stands as a poignant reminder to us all. The picture on this page represents people hiding in an underground shelter during the WW2 Blitz. Underground stations were used as air raid shelters – and they are unpleasant places at the best of times – so it’s hard for us to imagine what it must have been like to make your bed on the platform and sleep among all the other people, not to mention the noise of the bombs and the fear that must have caused.
