Giving up the day jobs for ‘happy music’


A band from Matlock is destined for great things this year. Sam Wilmot from Patawawa talks to Catherine Roth about music, inspiration and hopes of big time success.

PATAWAWA are enjoying growing success performing their electronic indie disco music to audiences across the country and abroad. The blend of Rory Lovatt’s electronic and live instrumentals accompanied by vocals from Sam Wilmot and Beth Garrett, produces a music genre that is all about having fun. Sam says: “We like to make happy music and music that makes people dance.”

Patawawa have good cause to celebrate as this year they were signed up by Parisian record label Splinter and their track “Patagonia” has notched up an impressive quarter-of-a-million plays…
