A remarkable family story links all four of Castleton’s famous caverns, as Steve Brown reports.

ONE of Derbyshire most popular destinations, Castleton’s streets normally bustle with tourists, enjoying the shops and cafes, and with hikers heading out to the hills. And it’s famous worldwide, too, for its caverns. For many years now visitors have been welcomed to its four show caves/caverns. Although each cavern is different, their histories are linked by a remarkable family story.
