COLLECTABLE WATCHES take many different forms, but it is mechanical wristwatches that have seen rapid rises in value recently. Significant watchmakers such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Jaeger LeCoultre, Omega, Breitling and Vacheron Constantine have excellent value in the current antiques market. However, early 18th or 19th Century pocket watches continue to be of interest. As so often happens when doing a valuation, I find clients have inherited a couple of pocket watches and gold chains that rattle around in a drawer!
