A walk of many discoveries!

Reflections contributor Judith Parker Dixon offers us a real ‘Discovery Walk’ this month,  taking in historical sites on North Lees Estate and Stanage Edge.

THIS LOVELY WALK includes scenic paths across moor and ancient fields, followed by a rocky but well-established ascent to Stanage Edge. A series of footpaths lead firstly to Green’s House, then the ruins of the paper-mill (access via stepping stones). The route proceeds uphill to the remains of Holy Trinity Chapel, before continuing upwards to cross the road and begin the ascent to Stanage Edge. At the top, the route turns left before heading downwards; diverting to visit the Buck Stone, before joining the road back to the car park.  The constantly changing views range from expansive moorland to the dramatic escarpment of Stanage Edge…
