Reflections Rewind – August 2011

Reflections Magazine August 2011

What were you doing in August 2011?

This month, we’re turning back the clock 15 years as we delve into the Reflections archive.

Our August edition highlighted ‘the man who made Matlock’, with Jayne Darbyshire examining the lasting influence of businessman and benefactor John Smedley.

Our artist of the month was student Tobias Edwards, who shared his striking sketches in an A’ Level project which combined his love of art with his military ambitions.

Hoping to gain a place at officer training school after university, his project was called How War Is Shown Through Art.

At the height of summer holiday season, our fashion pages featured a colourful boho beach kaftan … worn with heels!

While kaftan-style cover-ups are just as popular right now, we’re more likely to see them paired with more beach-friendly sliders or flip flops …
