October is clearly the month when autumnal vibes are at their most powerful!
We’ve got all the ‘Fall feels’ in our current edition of Reflections and, flicking through our October 2016 magazine, there are some fascinating parallels.
While this month we’re looking into the resurgence of folklore, a decade ago we featured the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena (ASSAP) – with tales of ‘North Derbyshire strangeness’ captured in a new book.
Meanwhile, our fashion pages oozed with gothic glamour. Flowing skirts, sheer blouses, lace, frills and ruffles brought a hint of Victoriana to wardrobes as we embraced the darker side of romanticism.
Out in nature, we learned more about the fruiting bodies of fungi, as mushrooms and toadstools sprouted abundantly on the ground and trees.
And, as trees began to blaze in their autumn colours, our cover story focused on Steve Porter, Head of Gardens and Landscape at Chatsworth, who highlighted plans to ensure the Estate’s magnificent oaks and other parkland trees would survive, thrive and endure.
